Digitalization plays a key role in the energy transition. Numerous processes in the decentralized and integrated energy system require a high degree of digitalization - whether variable tariffs, partially or fully automated control of energy systems, grid monitoring or increasingly administrative processes such as heat planning. This requires a solid data infrastructure and database.

The key here is that this data is not just stored in data silos at individual companies, but is shared and processed at suitable points. Data exchange within and between value chains offers great economic and public welfare opportunities. Suitable cross-company data governance can promote the availability of high-quality data. A flourishing exchange of data is not yet the standard.
